The Bedö Approach

Not a certificate.
A craft you carry.

Anyone can memorize an exercise. Teaching is different — it asks you to see the body in front of you and meet it. Our training is built around four disciplines that turn knowledge into instinct.

01

Observe

Read alignment, breath, and compensation before you cue a single movement. Seeing is the first skill.

02

Understand

Functional anatomy and biomechanics grounded in the classical repertoire — the why beneath every exercise.

03

Adapt

Modify with confidence for real bodies — injuries, pregnancy, populations — without losing the method's integrity.

04

Teach

Mentored hours on the mat and apparatus until cueing, pacing, and presence become second nature.

The Programs

Two ways in.

Whether you're starting from the very beginning or finishing a journey you began elsewhere, there's a path built for where you are — both mentored personally, both leading to the NCPT exam.

The system begins with foundations. Reformer · Tower · Chair · Barrel
Comprehensive Certification

Start to finish.

525 hours

For those beginning their teaching journey. No prior experience required — six sequential, mentor-gated modules, one a month, take you from first principles to the full apparatus, and all the way to certification.

  • Foundations, mat & the full apparatus repertoire
  • Functional anatomy & movement analysis
  • Special populations & corrective work
  • Mentored practicum + complete NCPT exam prep
The Bridge Program New

Finish what you started.

250 hours · intermediate to advanced

For teachers who began their training with another school and want to complete it with intention. After a short onboarding, you join an in-progress cohort at the Advanced Core — so you can start even after a Comprehensive class is underway, and finish right alongside them.

  • Advanced apparatus & mat repertoire
  • The Bedö movement-analysis & corrective lens
  • Special populations & advanced programming
  • Mentored practicum + NCPT exam prep

Entry by placement assessment — proof of prior training and a short teach-back confirm you're ready. Prepares you for the NCPT exam; transfer eligibility is assessed individually.

The Path

One path,
two ways in.

Both programs share the same advanced training. Comprehensive students build from the foundations; Bridge teachers join the very same cohort at the Advanced Core — and everyone graduates together.

Foundations · Comprehensive begins · Months 1–3 · 295 hrs
1

Foundations & Mat

Principles of the method, the classical mat order, breath mechanics, and the language of cueing.

100hours
2

Functional Anatomy

The moving body — joints, chains, and compensations you'll learn to read on sight.

95hours
3

The Reformer

Spring dynamics, transitions, and the reformer repertoire from beginner to intermediate.

100hours

The Bridge joins here. Teachers who trained elsewhere complete a 20-hour assessment & onboarding, then enter the same cohort for the Advanced Core — growing the class partway through, with no separate run required.

The Advanced Core · shared cohort · Months 4–6 · 230 hrs
4

Advanced Apparatus

Reformer, Cadillac, chair, and barrels — the intermediate-to-advanced repertoire and transitions.

70hours
5

Programming, Analysis & Special Populations

The advanced mat order, the Bedö biomechanics lens, and adapting the work — pre/postnatal, injury, and aging — with judgment and care.

85hours
6

Practicum & Certification

Supervised teaching until cueing, pacing, and presence become second nature — closing with full NCPT exam preparation and a final practical.

75hours
Then the vocabulary expands. Cadillac · Chair · Ladder Barrel

The apparatus doesn't do the work — it teaches the body how.

What's In It For You

Leave with more than
a certificate.

This is a career you can build on. Here's what you carry out the door — skill you can feel, a credential the industry recognizes, and the freedom to teach on your own terms.

An eye for the body

You'll learn to see alignment, breath, and compensation at a glance — and cue with a clarity that clients feel from the first session.

A credential that travels

Full preparation for the NCPT certification exam — a nationally recognized standard that lets you teach in serious studios anywhere.

A career on your terms

Teach in a studio, build a private roster, or open your own space. Movement is needed everywhere — this training makes you the person who delivers it.

The full classical repertoire

Mat, reformer, and the complete apparatus — plus a 495-question study bank and real teaching hours until the method becomes instinct.

Confidence with every body

Pre/postnatal, injury, and aging populations — you'll adapt the method with judgment, so no client walks in feeling like the exception.

A mentor for the long run

Small cohorts led personally by Van, with 1:1 guidance that doesn't end at graduation — plus a community of teachers who started right where you are.

Taught By Credential

Trained by a Master Teacher.

The academy is led by Van Bedo — a nationally certified Pilates teacher whose credentials span movement science, corrective exercise, and performance. You learn the method from someone who lives it.

The Founder
I built this academy to teach what took me years to learn — how to read a body, how to see what needs to change, how to cue with real precision. That clarity is what gives every teacher leaving here real mastery.

Van Bedo is a Master Teacher and nationally certified Pilates teacher (NCPT) based in Dallas, where she's a top revenue producer at one of the nation's largest health clubs. She has spent most of her career helping clients and fitness professionals reach their goals — and she's just as passionate about teaching professionals how to make a living teaching Pilates. She leads every cohort personally, mentoring students through their practicum hours toward the NCPT exam and a career they're proud of.
